Conjunto Concert Tonight 5-11 PM - Levee & 11th Downtown!

"Roots Music For the Valley!"


Did y'all know that Conjunto Music has it's roots in the RGV but is influenced by musical styles as far away as Germany? If you want to hear some great Conjunto Music from a number of talented bands then go to the 6th Annual  STCA Freddie Gomez Memorial Conjunto Concert tonight starting at 5PM. It's a free family friendly event located at Levee and 11th Street in downtown Brownsville Tonight!

"A Free Public and Family event brought to you by the South Texas Conjunto Association, the City of Brownsville Main Street District, the Brownsville Society for the Performing Arts and Charlie Clark NISSAN. The Program includes a DJ Music Tribute Mix for Departed Artists, the National Anthem on Accordion, In-Memoriam Cymbal-Toll for 2015-2016 Departed Artists, Conjunto Award Certificate Presentations, Accordion-Student Performances, local Youth Musicians Ensemble, a Dance Marathon Contest with Cash Prizes and three (3) Conjunto performances from 8:30pm to 12pm. Food and Beverage concessions available and tables and chairs will be provided, personal outdoor folding chairs are also welcome. I have gone to this event twice in the past and I do not consider myself a fan of this style of music. But I had a great time meeting people, seeing friends and even dancing. Also, I found I like the music a lot more than I thought once I heard it live. It's a free event so if you are open to experience new styles and tastes, get out there and Be part of it.
