I have begun the process of revisiting our cherished local spots when it comes time for me to eat. At one point or another I have profiled most local places in the past but not in the blog format so this gives me an opportunity provide more robust content than Facebook will allow. Today's visit was to Spanky's Burgers. Which has much more than just burgers! However, I was so hungry I forgot to take picture of my food so I had to search the web for some shots from there... the rest of the pictures are mine.
Spanky's is a casual dining restaurant with a sort of a Hill Country meets 1950's theme going on. The building was renovated about 5 or 6 years ago and still looks freshly remodeled. Interior decor features a wide open dining are with exposed beam ceiling and hip industrial lighting. It has a very nice front patio which almost no one ever uses but it's a nice thought.
Service very simple... you order at the counter. Drinks are self serve. It's typically friendly and prompt. I can't remember ever having a bad experience with regard to service or food quality. Even when it's crowded the cooks get your food out quickly and it's brought to your table in a red basket with a paper liner. Speaking of the tables they are all glass tops and the old custom of putting your business card beneath the glass is alive and well here. In fact my cards are in about every table at this point... no surprise there.
The food options are much wider than the name denotes. They have numerous burger options including a Turkey Burger, Black Bean Burger and a Veggie Burger with all types of fixin's. They also have a Mexican Plate, Salads, Chicken Sandwiches, Fish Plate and various menu options. The burger combo comes with fries and a drink and is reasonably priced for the quality and atmosphere. The food is good quality and is served hot and fresh. I always enjoy my meal here and never leave without seeing someone I know. I highly recommend you go check them out if you have never been and if you haven't been in a while put it on your agenda!
Spanky's is located on Historic Palm Blvd. The physical address is 1355 Palm Blvd. Stop in soon. Eating at local places is good for you and good for the community. You will glad you decided to Be part of it.
